Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiooooooooooooooo, Riiiiiiiiioooooooooooooooooooo
Probably had the most uncomfortable flight to Rio with a
seat unable to be reclined which resulted in even I having my sleeping skills
put to the test! The most comfortable sleeping position resulted in my face
forward on my tray table – fortunately I do not have anyone with me to take the
classic Libby asleep picture!
where is everybody? |
It is my second day in Rio and I am staying in a hostel in Leme in a ‘favela’ I will let you google that!
I am supposedly going to a favela party on Sunday night….doesn’t start until
11pm and last 5 hours. I wonder how I will survive or if I will make it seeing
as I was in bed last night at 2130
To be fair my first day I spent working…..boring….and my
second day I managed to sleep until 11am with my blindfold thing and ear plugs
oooopsy.
So far my impression of Rio is not overwhelming but then it
has been raining and I have been ill. So I am willing to give it more of a
chance! But in many ways I am just tired and ready to come home. Apologies for
being slightly self indulgent, I am sure people at home are cursing me saying
you don’t how lucky you are, but with no one to talk to or vent I am afraid the
download happens here…..but it is pretty lonely and fairly scary by yourself in
a big city like this and my energy to interact with people I don’t know has all
but gone!
Today I stepped upon a bus to go to Rio center in the hope
of seeing some historic sites. Note to self have a better map and more of an
idea where you are going next time! I got on the bus that has a turnstile on it
really quite novel, and eventually got off where I thought the center was….who
knows I still don’t. I ended up finding what I think is the main local shoping
street a bit like a market. Found a haviannas store and did the obligatory
purchasing for flip flops.
I then found a park which stated strictly no abandoning of
your animals, it seems that is exactly what people did! While there were no
dogs there were plenty of cats, funny pigmy things, Peacocks and random other
birds!
After this I decided to return to Leme and get myself a hot
chocolate from a nice café I have found, On getting on the bus I
thought…..hmmmmm you seem quite young driver….. when he didn’t seem bothered
about how much I paid him and proceeded to drive the bus like it had a bomb on
it firing me out of my seat at least 3 times nearly crashing into a cab and
rattling us all to death…….I did not stand corrected merely still alive and
with no more injuries
The hot chocolate hit the spot despite me leaving my shopping there!!!
