Off to Airlie Beach where you go to go somewhere else!

Money saving overnight bus where the air con is on so cold that yet again I am thankful for my sleeping liner which comes into its own despite having trousers and Jumper on.
I arrive in Airlie at about 0715 and I am off Ocean rafting at 1000, so I toddle along to my hostel in the middle of town it is called Magnums and proudly presents itself as Australia's biggest party bar open until 0230......whoooooo hooooo. Not sure how my 2100 bed time is going to work.

So I go to drop my bags off for now as I can't check in.  However,  despite already paying to stay there that night there wasn't to charge me $2 to look after my bag where the rib is opened for strictly 5 mins at approximately the following times.
Work that out!  In the end I got it it free of charge but could aid to find out the cost of using a toilet there when I hadn't checked in so went off to find my OCEAN RAFTING FUN.  A big yellow 30 seater rib that the driver carved around the ocean making many of the people squeal,  when I say squeal I mean seriously high pitched.  The classic young gay couple I am fairly sure were just trying to pierce my ear drums on the way home and weren't so scared.
Anyway off we went to the Whitsundays,  74 Islands of which I believe 4 maybe 6 have resorts on them.  One is just a good course so another could get its 6* rating.
Well we hammer from Airlie  squealing as we go leaving hook island to port and WhitSunday to starboard and stop at border island to snorkel.
Armed with my stinger suit,  3 mm wetsuit provider by them wet on arrival,  I must have spent a good 30mins onshore trying to get it to dry in the sun,  in
I hop and straight ah we see a turtle and a giant clam and plenty of pretty coloured fish but more impressive are the corals,  brightly coloured and above and moving like their own underwater forrest
It was an interesting set up 3 people to 30 people,  all quite young 18-24yrs, god I am getting old or showing my age. But when someone did get in distress if it wasn't for the lady near him with a noodle I am not sure what would have happened.  Noodles genius is for snorkeling and sea gul fending off.
Next stop Whitehaven and Hill inlet,  now I hadn't dealt read much of in fact seen anything about it. Just that every traveller I spoke to said you have to go to Whitehaven Beach....... Hmmmmm a beach I thought....

Ahhhhh a really rather impressive beach! 99% silica,  turtles and rays skimming along in the water I can see why it is in the top 3 most photographed places in Australia

Breathtaking and beautiful and never the same for two days or two tides the changing motion of the sand paints a subtly different picture each time.
No squealing to be heard just the gentle mapping of the water and the watching  of the shadows of the trays as the go past.  This is definitely up there with one of the most beautiful places to be.
Bubble burst back on the boat for more roller coaster screaming on the way home ready to hit my party hostel.
Which turned out to be a pleasant surprise,  as I walked back through the bar the area opens up into a notably calmer jungle like area with dorms Interspersed it and it turns out I am sharing with a girl from earlier on my trip.
