The Last one for now.......

Image
Welcome to my cocoon, a bunk bed with black out curtains in a room with black out curtains for a person who thrives on daylight, in particular waking her up....... Cue 1200 start again doh....... the damn breakfast rush! From what I can see here things happen in the afternoon or evenings and it would appear I am fairly quickly slipping into the new timing....... in fact I am probably still ahead of the curve in comparison to most. Anyway having had breakfast and ummmed and ahhhed about my options for the day with tomorrow being my last day with a flight in the evening. I fortunately thought it would be good to book a taxi to the airport and then discovered that my flight was middle of the day Doh! So not much to be done tomorrow except getting to the airport and now the afternoon is halfway through. Best get my walking shoes and go check some things out.  Only its Monday and most museums are closed...... Oh well,  a little wander around Palmero soho which is where I ...

Coming to an end but not yet.....

Breakfast you would imagine, going a bit later (okay technically lunch time) it might not be as busy, but apparently a whole world of people felt the same. With absolutely zero enthusiasm to leave the hostel I badgered some people across the world for encouragement. The powers of modern technology.  Some didn't want to go running,  some were baking, some were just plain busy. But I picked my bottom up and out I went and this is where...........30,000 steps and home took me An eco park which I must explore more of but discovered that at 39 apparently you are too old to go on a merry-go-round despite being small apparently I require an even smaller person.... maybe someone different tomorrow. Check out these weird free roaming tail-less creatures. Next up it turns out cemeteries can be tourist sites, weird but both Valparaiso and Punta Arenas also had then as sites but I didn't go, but I caved here.....  This was like a small town of dead people, with streets,...

Bye Bye bottom of the world.......

As I almost don't leave the Uttermost part of the earth due to the loads of snow, 3 inches deep when I walked to the cash point to get my taxi fare, I wouldn't have even bothered going to the airport in the UK. As I sat there wondering if my plane would land in the white out nevermind take off I did start to think maybe that summer job offer JJ suggested is an option! But it also gave me time to leave you with with a few facts before I can hopefully dry my feet in Buenos Aires and impersonate Madonna impersonating Eva Peron Come on the next pub quiz on Ushuaia and Random Stuff Libby has learnt while travelling! 1. Why is it called the Uttermost part of The Earth: Lucas Bridges the son of Thomas Bridges documented his time growing up there. They came to save the indigenous people the Yamana tribe who were probably quite happy in their canoes. Created a dictionary of the their languages and established the Haberton estancion (ranch) which is closed in the winter!!! So no ...

THE MOST AMAZING DAY! First up take your time (get your glasses) look really closely its like where's wally not my bobble hat but my new red hat ........I am in there get looking  Have you found me...it is tricky even for me.....?  Do you want a clue. I am next to a baby one does that help? they are more furry brown. Go on take some time try zooming...... Between the one that is looking left and the one with its back to us...... Mwah ha ha, here I am Its a picture but you had fun right and just for a moment you didn't think of anything else right, but where's Libby?! Oh how I am crying and chuckling.  Also saw the southern lights A cool museum, anyway, I will come back to that.  In actual fact it was a lazy day today got up late though here everyone seems to. Nothing really happens until 1000. Good job as is raining and grey and I imagine the weather can often be like this. Perfect day to go hiking on...

Cerro Castor

Image
Now I am fairly sure JJ told me Cerro Castor meant river hill, I am also sure he told me that Castor meant Beaver and that Cerro Castor was named after a French sailor who came here stayed and became the postman treking to Rio Grande and back......his favourite phrase...too much information!!! Anyway Cerro Castor is the name of the snow resort here, opened about 15years ago about 25 runs 4 chair lifts and 3 pommels, hate pommel lifts on the snowboard in fact on skies I am pretty good at wiping out on them too! When you don't do something very often the older you get I swear it feels like you have gone more backwards each time. Usual comedy ensues of trying to get off the chair lift.  It's a steep one I hate steep ones..... So I am back to my version of snowboarding one run then a hot chocolate,  maybe another run and a nap in a deck chair in the sun. Expensive way to do it Anyway so far I have fallen off two ski lifts, fallen over just before the chair arrived twi...

And you shall be called Ellie.....

I know you are all itching for a hostel/bunk room update. After one night where I was in bed before my bunk room buddies I was all set to try my Spanglish and converse with my roomies once I had woken up. Cue they had left already, never to return.  So best intentions and I now have 6 bunks to myself. I am kind of a ready to have some friends if only share the ridiculous sized portions of food with me. Just a little cheese and ham toastie!!! So today was a welcome relief with a fun tour guide and a couple who seemed lovely and I tried my Spanglish out on them and the tour guide (Walter aka JJ, work that out)  spent most of the time teaching me more Spanish after deciding my name was too hard to say. "Livvy, lippy, ibby, ivvy, ivy too hard do you have another name?" "Yes, Elizabeth." "Ah Elizabeth, so Ellie is better that is your name....it is easier....yes.....Ellie." So I have spent the whole day trying to remember to answer to my new name! Off...
