Vroooom vrooooom

Now the holiday starts.....off to collect our vrooooom vroooom. We do one last cruise about the town for breakfast....no one wanted to wash up....and initial postcard purchasing.......and braving trying the Norwegian versions of chorizo.

Whale,Elk and Reindeer......the elk pushed me over the edge and I am still yipping when i rhink about it. The whale was most like chorizo and i left Fi to try the reindeer while I got some air!

There is a huge amount of construction being done including underfloor heating for the pavements it seems.....a whole gentrification of the area called Vervet with bars restaurants and appartments.

Tromso feels a slightly out of season for the proportion of tourist shops and people. Despite the every so often coach dump of people from the floating flats and no doubt the 6 odd plane loads that seem to come in at the end of the day.

Our taxi driver Leif picked us up in his electic car.....apparently they have the highest percentage of electric cars here in Norway according to Fi. He has xome up from Trondheim some 18hrs south for work.

Beep beep vroom vroom here comes big Bertha! Having been shown around our van, informed that speeding and parking fines are very expensive we loaded up and piled aboard. I climbed into the driving seat ready to try and recall my lorry/van driving days and take us on a hug a husky mission via the supermarket.

Firstly the handbrake hung limply in my hand and reminded me of the time my brother pulled his out the fllor of the escort while I was learning to hill start, secondly its an automatic which i am not use .......cue seemingly being unable to get the handbrake off and leave!

Off i stroll back in to say the handbrake is broken and the man comes back out and to ahow me how it actually works. Seemingly this floppy handbrake is a thing and no P just N on automatics. So off we finally went remembering to drive on the right and at the speed limit via the supermarket where we avoided the reindeer elk and whale and i got very excited to use the bread cutting machine.

We then stumbled upon a viewing spot which also happened to be the location of the sinking of the Tirpitz the sister ship of the Bizmark. Somehow i never realised quite how far N the war pushed to stop supply lines into Russia.

A quick hot chocolate and hug of husky with another waffle....this time with berry-thing not the burnt cheese!

We finished are first day by a river with an in-van culinary delightof thai curry, wondering how everything, whether we will be stuck in the mud in the morning and discussing with use of paper map guide book and google where to go.

Its alright so far 😉
