Off on the End of World train despite every bit of advice saying didn't don't it! Sometimes I feel you have indulge these things. In my own little carriage with breakfast as getting out of bed this morning was nearly a complete fail followed by now you are going to have to run to make the train well the bus to catch the train , and crap knows when I left if the bus was coming back to get me! The train goes about as quick as I do running on a good day! 5KM in 30 mins probably deliberately for the view. This End of the world train probably is the lowest latitude train in the world most likely...... Its history is associated with the formation of Ushuaia as a town 1884 and Argentina wanting to make it more Argentinean and help the town prosper by having a penal colony. Basically send convicts to build stuff mainly cutting down the forest in the process. Only they sent people tht really weren't very nice so then those that hadn't broken the law weren't that ...

Bunk rooms...

I am not sure if there is or should be a maximum age that you stop being able to bunk in a mixed dorm. I mean that would be ageist and seeing as in my head I never really grew up past I would say 22-23yrs old or that's what I like to believe,  except I now knit, make pom pom rugs, garden, have partially abandoned cats and can't drink more than 3 drinks or stay out past midnight (oh wait the last one had always been the case and I probably always thought I could drink more than 3 the difference is now I know I can't!) Anyway I digress torn between where to stay a hostel bunk room or my own space. Potentially ensure some interaction using my Spanglish or almost none.  I am actually not sure I have had a conversation with anyone since H and Katie left that isn't more than 3 sentences and involving some kind of a miming! So I thought a hostel would be goooood! I dutifully entered my 6 bedroom dorm and carefully laid out my stuff in my locker and at one end of the bunk be...

A little bit of history

So where am I some will have looked it up some will know. This is where I am The bottom end of South America which has a straight line between Chile and Argentina over Tierra del Fuego to the Beagle channel and is part of Patagonia and is also called the Magallenas. Are you keeping up......? Confusing no? Punta Arenas sits on mainland south America in Chile and the rest the real bottom end of the Continent is a series of islands a bit like the Isle Wight to UK, ha ha ha. But the main island is called Tierra del Fuego and at the Southern end of that you have the town of Ushusia that looks out on Beagle channel. Beyond there is Chile again Isla Navarino and Puerto Williams and finally the Cabo de Hornos, Drake Passage and the Antarctica! Tierra del Fuego A whole world of this....... Initially there were 4000 or so Selk'nam people, one of the indigenous tribes of this part of the world and they were giants up to 2M tall and the Japanese dude with me on my Spanish tour p...

Summary of heading south through Patagonia

I have always liked blogging mainly because I hope it means my friends and family get to share my experiences with me as I go, because I am notoriously bad at the question when I am come home. How was it? Yeah it was okay. This time like other times I haven't travelled alone so maybe that's why I resisted telling my tale so to speak! But I am now on my tod and able to reflect. So this is the abridged version and firstly I apologise mostly to Sara Grain about any typos or spelling mistakes! So where have I gone.........South America...Patagonia. I have always wanted to go and about 18 months ago I docked in Puerto Montt which sits at the top of the area broadly categorized as Patagonia, under a grey drizzly day and at a loss of being back a ashore. Even the clouds didn't part to share the beauty of this place and take a little sting out of the tail of losing Fish. I can still recall looking out the breakfast bar of the holiday inn hotel at the sky willing them t...
