End of Ubud on to Thailand- but a stunner

Today was my last day in Ubud and it started with my earliest start and ended with my most lazy day, as tomorrow I fly to Thailand, so it is also my last day in Bali.
This is where I was at 0530 this morning after a 2 hour hike or drag up some lava flows. Sunrise at the top of Mount Batur just me and one other


It was stunning and very calming what was probably more amazing that I could never capture with my point and push camera is what the american girl Tamara I was with coined heat lightning. But is basically lightning in the distance no noise but has an orange warm glow- it was really beautiful - looked a bit like something out of star trek- but without meaning to sound full of b*******- it was quite soothing for the soul.
The crater lake is quite impressive and the way the clouds spilled over into it was stunning to - something worth  a hike unless you actually dislike hiking more than me!!! Also the novelty of cooking an egg and bananas on the steam coming out of the volcano was pretty cool.

By 0900 I was done back at my hotel and pretty much fast asleep- at least for an hour as I couldn't afford to miss out on some pork crackling gorging and a little more pampering.
I headed to IBU OKA- or something like that ordered the special and tried to order more crackling but they said no - no matter how many times I asked and even if I went away and wandered back a bit later! Cheap tasty and one of my favs!

 Following that I strolled aimlessly before deciding in this state of  tiredness the place for me is by the pool reading my book. with it being cloudy as well it meant it was actually an option.

Tomorrow I head to Thailand- to Chiang Mai- my accommodation is costing me a mere £2 a night- which is great if a little worrying. After 3-4 days there I will finally have a holiday buddy as I head to Phuket and meet up with Lindsey Bell- yay!!!

Bali is amazing and I have merely scraped the surface- the surf alone I would return for - someone sign me up

Ambling and absorbing

With the power of 3 the faffing and forgetting  time is also somewhat trebled....After scrambled eggs and marmite on toast....yes I brought marmite with us. The cats herded themselves out the door for a coffee still thoroughly confused about what clothing should be worn, as while it isnt the wamest outside they do seem to like to keep the inside at short and tshirt temperatures!!! The appartment upgrade....is an upgrade as its nearer the town centre which is only about 15mins in any direction. If a little cosier, bed sharing required but not all 3 and given we'll be inside a tin can for the rest of the holiday, we are easing ourselves in gently. Sightseeing abound after Fi required a change of clothes having decided to wear her coffee rather than drink it! First up we tested the flat bridge we will be running on tomorrow eeeekkkkk and head over to the Arctic Cathedral. Questioning whether is was steeper on the way there or on the back......is in steeper than the Itchen bridge.....o...

Things could only get better....

Tap tap..... Hmmmm...... Was that someone knocking on the van? I was half alseep in some wildly crazy vivid dream as we all semi woke up hot as hell to a 'stern' Norwegian lady. Why are you parked in two spaces? Our jaunty angle not sounding so fun I will have to fine you 600 kronas way too early to vaguely contemplate the maths or formulate a response but Lindsey diplomatically replied that it was slmeone elses fault and we will move cue some shuffling around in pyjamas and we were off to the capsite we had spied as we were also reaching a critical situation with toilet onboard. Campsite flakstad was a great location at the other end of the beach and had the toilet emptying facilities but the grumpy man wouldnt let us even pay to do it....day not starti g well.
