The end of the hols
Last full day in Patong and therefore the last full day of holiday- tomorrow Lindsey and I will be making our way to Singapore (hoping our budget airline doesn't let us down) and heading to Perth, or I should say Fremantle, and back to work with ISAF Perth World Championships.
Today was scooter day number two after my maiden voyage in Chiang Mai - I thought lets go again and take a passenger this time. Lindsey was either very brave or a little bit stupid!! After my ranting abut maps and tuk-tuk drivers not knowing where they are going we set off in the morning on our scooter to Kata beach for breakfast.
Within 5 mins I had us going round the one way system again and then 20 mins later we were lost on a beach called Paradise Beach (which wasn't too bad) but concerned we may not be able to leave as the hill we came down to get there had us nearly going over the handle bars!!!
So we breakfasted there and enjoyed our sun loungers!
By the time we got up the hill and back to vague town the engine light was on and we were in need of fuel- encouraged not to by the bottles we had seen the night before we went to the next best thing- some old school pup system - and £4 to fill the tank!
Following this we made our way to the BIG BUDHA, not as big as the one I saw in China but still pretty big with some stunning views- built in honour of the King's 80th Birthday. Here we also learnt how to be happy in 7 mins and that is not some innuendo and donated some money and bought a little piece of marble for the statue
We then cruised back down and had lunch with a stunning a view and right next to the Elephant trekking place. While the view and food was amazing the elephants seemed a little distressed - however at one point Lindsey thought they were fighting - but when she saw the 5th leg and me backing away in case the elephant swung round, the words 'oh my God' were expressed and it was fairly apparent they weren't and therefore maybe not that distressed! And no Peter and Robert I did not run away crying!!!
We dabbled with the idea of going to the peninsula to watch the sunset but by this point I was craving a little bit of Earl Grey Heaven and didn't overly fancy scootering in the dark. So maximise tan time - which was minimal today except for the great t-shirt mark I gained while we were whizzing around- the last day and I get sunburnt!!! A quick stop in at the beach followed by a Starbucks and then our delightful beach treated us to one final sunset!
Heading off to Perth tomorrow and bizarrely my cousin Louise is going to be there and hopefully going to meet up with Alex from my surf camp in Bali...best get a new camera after my one today failed to make it home with me! It had a good innings and had already survived a 30 m drop in the jungle, which I am sure stopped the flash working!
