First few days in Freo


I am afraid you are going to be greeted with a few wordy blogs and not so pictorial from now on, they will also be few and far between as the daily routine of the event begins and I am generally just working

So I left Phuket about 4 days ago with Lindsey and finally got to the hotel room at about 3am, after much excited chatting with Emilie I managed to fall asleep at about 4am and got up at 0830am to go to the boat park and unload a container with the troops – which mainly consisted of moving and stacking a hell of a lot of water bottles. They were moved from one container to another and then promptly collapsed down and had to be restacked- joy of joy!
But finally done and a stroll round the area with Emilie to show her vaguely where things are and more importantly to get an ice cream and everything was back in the balance!

I am managing to sneak a bit of outside time in and I am hoping to get out on the water once the event starts, but otherwise I will keeping an eye on the temperatures dropping back home for my return.

Yesterday we had a day off as the Opening Ceremony was happening and only the sailors were invited. This gave u the opportunity to pootle up the swan river to a little beach and have a BBQ. Which was lovely. A little swim as well with a dolphin almost within in reaching distance and our batteries were recharged.

I then spent the evening with my cousin Louise who is randomly out here on holiday and through the power of Facebook we caught up fr a few beers- an absolute pleasure.

The match racing starts today with the next bunch of sailing classes starting on Monday

Back and a bit different, usually i have plonked myself in some foreign country with little or no real plan. Last time tried a sunshine holiday/wingfoil in Zanzibar.....once I got the moped and whizzed around the island was a lot happier. Last year I ran and then hiked around Norway with some buddies a much happier me  This time I have acquired a four legged creature....who will likely feature a lot, be warned and shed some poundage as i have entered a silly triathlon in Northumberland. Think it must be time I can just choose to go somewhere and not run swim or ride..... Originally i wanted to cycle the 250 around Northumberland but the nut (Walnut the 4 legged companion) put a handbrake on that and my training! So instead its a car adventure! First up Kielder Forest and it is a long way away from where I live especially as my carcolepsy seems to be worse than ever....max travel time 1.5hrs before snoozing! I broke the journey up by stopping in Rutland at Vickys.....aft...

It's a revelation

At Several points through the course of today a life revelation has occured..... There is no reason to get up at 0400 for fun....with the exception of going on holiday (but even I book more sociable flights now) and round the island....which weirdly is still fun! I had pre set my kettle ready for ignition and porridge pot on my parents honeymoon camping stove thats still going strong though it really only cooks at a fairly maximum gas blasting speed....good for kettle boiling. Drew the curtain to misty but no mizzle filled campsite, after the chinks of blue sky seem to have held their own overnight and grown. Northumbrian triathlon here we come or in my mind.....why, i could just sleep.....but now Walnut is already ensconced in her hotel i should probably do it. What else would I now do! The chat of midges from both the campsite and event pre coming up here proved not to be a lie...... so by 0500 what I would learn would soon become my permanent headwear I was in the transition zone la...

Mizzle and heart break

Moooorning bleak Kielder Forest guess thats partly why it is here. Walnut loves the mizzle and out we went at 0700 on a wander from the site. A few max speed laps of a partially flood field and i can confirm that my shoes are no longer gore tex and the cotton based waterproof top is living more up to its cotton aspect than waterproof! Mizzle and Walnut 1 - Libby NIL Home for a fry up and suddenly dog food is less tasty than sausage and bacon cooked at nose level for some! First little adventure today, to a place called Bellingham mainly because it has a shop some great walks and is on the way to kennels- yes walnut is going to hotel so I can do my triathlon...... Fab walk by the river and wamder arpund the village which reminded me of being in west wales......remote places operate differently. Though this one did have coop and an aptly name cafe called LUNCH, where customer isnt right no skinny lattes oatmilf coffees a big fat and simple whole milk only! Great pies and pain...
